The warm atmosphere of Vice City is a nostalgia trip from my early teens
Today I 100%ed Vice City Definitive Edition on the Nintendo Switch.
This was my second playthrough of the game on Switch, but I never went for full completion. Games like this that were difficult for me when I was younger, are relatively easy to complete nowadays- (looking at you, Link's Awakening DX)
From the warm tones of Vice City and its plethora of iconic tracks to listen to while cruising, to its nostalgic NPC dialogue and main cast of recognizable actor voiceovers, I enjoyed playing the game again- the difference nowadays watching Youtube videos while playing the game.
I found the game relatively smooth to progress through. Some parts still got my heart racing, like those harder missions where you are on foot being swarmed by multiple enemies, and some of the driving from police with at least a 4 star wanted level, but doing the side missions and finding hidden packages early gave me quite an advantage towards beating missions.
All in all, I had a great time playing and enjoyed using the "classic lighting" option. (the blinding sun and toxic waste colored fog were a bit annoying though). I made sure to save Cortez' bulletproof Admiral and the Voodoo/ Hearse in my garages.
